Aux Abris was founded in 2015 by interior decorator and graphic designer Karen Robert. Driven by a passion for interiors, she launched the brand to incorporate her own wallpaper designs into her projects—a natural culmination of her many creative pursuits.

She gravitates toward well-worn spaces infused with quirky modern touches, bold color, rich textures, and dynamic patterns. The name “Aux Abris,” meaning “take shelter,” is a tribute to both her vacation home on Shelter Island and her French-American husband.

Adapting large-scale panoramas to fit the height of any room is a craft Aux Abris has perfected with precision and creativity. They meticulously adjust the proportions of each mural for a seamless effect. The entire collection reimagines timeless designs for contemporary interiors, pushing the boundaries of texture, color, and pattern.

The studio is based in a 7,000-square-foot space within the Yonkers artist district just outside of New York City. It houses a dedicated team of experts who manage printing, design, and sampling. They print on demand with short lead times and offer unmatched flexibility in customization.
