Family owned and operated since 1988, they are committed to providing designers and their clients with the finest upholstered furniture available today. Dedicated artisans maintain a tradition of fine craftsmanship using old world techniques and unmatched attention to detail.

Offering designers and architects an extensive line of more than 250 pieces, O. Henry House also customizes furniture to meet specific requirements, from alterations made to the standard line to made-to-order items.

With their plant located in Archdale, North Carolina, they remain one of the last manufacturers absolutely dedicated to building furniture in the methodical and meticulous ways of the past. O. Henry House is proud to serve clients all over the country and internationally with their design needs.

The Craft

The construction process of O. Henry House is unmatched in its attention to detail. Each piece is inspected at every production stage and must pass the "sit test" before it leaves the workroom. Their obsession with quality, understanding of design, and recognition of comfortability, distinguishes them from the rest.

Custom Capabilities

O. Henry House works closely with Interior Designers and Architects to realize their custom furniture designs. Each hand crafted piece of furniture is made-to-order. This provides the flexibility of producing the most complex and unique designs, to the ease of standard in house designs.

Upholstery

Sturdy webbing is interwoven on the base of every piece of furniture and stell zig-zag springs are incporporated into the backs, Legs on all skirted pieces are upholstered, an every piece is self-decked. Encased coil Marshall Units are used on all tight back pieces and laerger arms. Tufted pieces are hand tufted, creating a beautiful and soft tailored finished product.

Framing

Frames are bench-made, in house, from nothern kiln-dried Maple, using reinforced corner blocks, and doweled for strength and stability. Built to last for generations.

Cushions

Standard seats are Spring Down with Ultracell. These are hand constructed of Marshall Unit encased in high density Ultracell foam that is inserted into a channeled envelope of down and feather. Standard backs are 10/90 down and feather. Upgraded cushions options include 25/75 and 50/50 white goose down and ultimate plush cushioning.

Outsiding

Final detail trim, nail head and welts are applied with care once the piece has been upholstered.
Skirts are lined and hand sewn.

Eight-Way
Hand Tied Springs

Each piece of furniture incorporates eight-way hand tied springs in the seat. Specific, varying gauge coil springs are used in each piece to ensure the correct sit, and are hand -tied together with coated twine.

Customer's Own
Fabric & Leather

Customer's Own Material or Leather is used to further realize the Designer's vision for their unique piece. Fabrics are inspected, measured, and handled with care. Each piece is cut by hand and pattern matched uniquely for each furniture piece. Fabric is sewn carefully and impeccably with careful attention to fabric type and characteristic.
