Delft - Blue

Hand painted tiles have been used as decorative surfaces and to create great atmosphere in various rooms throughout the centuries. Delft tiles originated in the Netherlands in the late 16th century as a local, affordable alternative to the opulent blue-and-white porcelain being imported from China by the Dutch East India Company. They became very fashionable in the 17th and 18th centuries, taking Europe by storm. We have painted and transformed a selection of 17th century floral Delft tiles into a characterful wallpaper with a modern twist.
