Cable Chain Border

This versatile historic border has been found in installations on both sides of the Atlantic. A flocked version, in crimson flock on a crimson ground, was used between 1764-1766 in the New Harvard Hall in Cambridge, Massachusetts to edge a large scale damask of the same colorway. In the last quarter of the 18th century, it was printed in black on yellow ochre and hung in Uppark House, West Sussex, England. A third example is the archives of the Victoria and Albert Museum.
