A chimneypiece of good proportions carved from Bardiglio marble with Statuary details. The simple shelf rests on the frieze centred by a tablet, which depicts a laurel garland. The foliage continues through the frieze, ending in paterae corner blocks. The jambs in the shape of fluted and stopped pedestals. Inspired by a North Italian antique original, this reproduction chimneypiece is a robust and handsome product of a distinguished Neoclassical style that was heavily influenced by French ornamental compositions.
