Cavendish Firegrate - Brass

Robert Adam paid particular attention to the interior details of the buildings he designed, and fire baskets were no exception. This richly decorated, graceful serpentine brass grate is enriched with many of the classical motifs popularised by the great architect, including oval paterae, pierced leaves and engraved urns.
