Meyer Mirror
Meyer Mirror
Of smaller and more modest dimensions, this slight of scale mirror, or ‘girandole’, is taken from the quintessential forms seen at the very early part of the 18th Century, or Queen Anne period. With a parred back linear form, the cut gesso markings add a light texture to the frame, with the overall aged giltwood finish replicating the untouched qualities seen on the surfaces of these early 18th century examples. Here shown with a sensitively aged mirror plate, with softly bevelled glass edges, and a pair of swan neck scrolling brass candle sconces (removable), to hold wax candles, if desired.
