Esme Chandelier

The Esme is an exceptionally elegant piece that captures a moment of stylistic transition in 18th-century English interiors. Its gadrooned baluster stem, fluted finial, and gracefully swept arms retain the sculptural rhythm of Baroque design, while the beaded collars and rosettes at each arm’s base reflecting the emerging Neoclassical taste of the 1770s, a time where ornamental weight gave way to refined order and poised proportion. Inspired by an original in The Met’s collection, the Esme has been cast in brass and given a distressed gilt finish.
